India Faux Pas Causes Worldwide Boycott
Less than a month ago, on May 26, 2022, the national spokesperson for the ruling political party in India, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), made a slip of the tongue in a heated televised debate. Her opponent made some objectionable remarks against Hinduism. She responded by pointing out that the Prophet Muhammad had married a six-year-old girl and consummated his marriage when she was nine implying he was a pedophile. While factually accurate, her remarks were taken to sugg

The Lady of Heaven
During the past two weeks, the movie, The Lady of Heaven, was in the news for causing numerous protests in the U.K. There was an online petition signed by 133,000 people to remove the movie from U.K. cinemas. Minneapolis to Allow Muslim Call to Prayer
First, let me credit the accompanying image to Wikipedia Commons and the artist, Leon Benett, circa 1882, of a picture of a muadhan giving the call to prayer from a minaret. Last week, in several newspapers and online journals, one news headline read "Muslim Call to Prayer Arrives in Minneapolis." It turns out that Minneapolis is the first large city in the U.S. to allow the Islamic call to prayer, or adhan, to be broadcast publicly. Adhan is an Arabic word meaning "to listen

Monkeypox and Gay Marriage
It is not often that I report what other blogs are writing, but I happened to chance upon an article written on The Islamic Information blog about the monkeypox virus. Writing credit goes to Haniya Hassan but what caught my eye were the maps that she used. The article's title reads "Map Shows Spread of Monkeypox Where Gay Marriages Are Legal." First, you have a map labeled the "2022 MonkeyPox Outbreak," and then you have another map labeled "Countries where Gay Marriages are
